Skye Rhodes

I'm Skye Rhodes, and I was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. My love of home decor started when I was about seven, tagging along with my mother to furniture stores and art stores. Those trips always sent me home wanting to make something, so I turned out homemade crafts to hang in our living room and hallways. I can still remember how grown-up it felt to walk past something I had made and see it treated like it belonged on the wall.

That feeling followed me into adulthood. I have furnished and restyled my own rentals and homes room by room, mostly with affordable finds and online orders. Nothing ever came together all at once, and I've come to think that's the best way to learn what a room actually needs. A lamp moves, a rug turns out to be a size too small, a thrifted frame gets a second coat of paint, and slowly the place starts to feel like yours.

I should warn you that I'm detail-obsessed and a little bit of a perfectionist. I'm the woman who measures a wall three times, tapes a rug outline on the floor, and still nudges a picture frame a quarter inch the next morning. I know it's a lot, and I can laugh about it. That same fussiness is why I care so much about the small things that make a decorating idea work once it leaves the photo and meets your actual room.

I founded My Decor Life to share that passion with like-minded people. I wanted a place for anyone who cares how their home feels but also has a budget, a lease, or a slightly awkward floor plan to work around. Growing up with South Carolina summers also made me a lifelong believer in a good porch, which is why the outdoors gets as much love here as the rooms inside.

At 43, I'm still that kid in the art store at heart. On a good weekend you'll find me at an open-air flea market, running my hand along a vintage dresser and pretending I haven't already measured the spot where it would go.
